Adventure Week

Last week was adventure week. Each day there was a new activity to participate in they were all
very fun and you got to choose which one to do for each day.  

I picked Cooking for day one in the morning and ice skating for the afternoon.
I was pretty good at Ice Skating, I could go really fast and I bet Clara :) 

For day two, I picked Christmas Baking cos I really like cooking.
Then I played cards with Nevaeh, Jaime, Nabraska and Mosi. 

For day three I picked surfing which was really fun. We went to Sumner and the waves were enormous.
I was really nervous because I thought I would get smashed by the waves. And I did get smashed, alot. 

But I did catch quite a lot too. I tried to convince Mosi to come out with me but she doesn't like the big
waves so I just let her bob around in the shallows with Milly.

On Thursday we went to Jelly park with our class and on Friday we had rumbustification day.  
So I had a a pretty good week.

Novel Study

1. What part would you change in the story? Why?
I’d change the part when Max kills Ari because after, she finds out that he's her half brother, and she feels guilty about that for the rest of the book.

2. In a good paragraph, state the main idea of the book. I reckon the main idea of this book series is to entertain. The author takes you on a massive whirlwind of a journey that leaves you hanging on to his every word and drooling in suspense. They're truly immaculate and I'd read them over and over. One thing I love about the series is that there not written in adult language, even though the author is an adult. There written as though by Maximum Ride herself (in teenage language). There may be a little bit of persuasion, the author does spim some global warming information into the tale. So he could also be wanting to give us knowledge on the deterioration of Earth. But yeah, I'm pretty sure he's just wanting to entertain us. And maybe he also wrote them for his own entertainment, I do think it must of been a fun series to write.

Rubiks Cube Thing

This is a 3x3 cube that I made that really frustrated me. We had to have 27 cubes with 3 cubes of 9 colours.
We had to make a cube with each side having every colour. Very annoying. In the end, it was fun.

Tessellations In Maths

This term we have been learning about tessellations. Tessellations are when you can have an arrangement of shapes fitted closely together without their being gaps or any overlapping. This a drawing I made with tessellation. Pretty cool huh?

Awsome Maths

This term we've been working on geometry. We are learning how to draw 3d shapes on isometric paper.

It's been challenging for me because I can't draw.

Hokey Pokey

Hokey Pokey

For science I’m going to make Hokey pokey.
I’m going to make a slideshow of what I’ve made and how I made it.
I’m going to get the photos and stuff for the slideshow, by taking pictures.
To make the hokey pokey I need:

½ cup	Sugar
¼ cup	Golden syrup
2 tsp	Baking soda

Directions

1. Place sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring continuously until sugar dissolves. Boil gently for approximately 4 minutes.
2. Remove pan from the heat and quickly stir in the baking soda until the mixture foams. Work quickly or the mixture will set in the pan.
3. Pour immediately into prepared tin and leave to cool and set.
4. Break into chunks when cold. Store in an airtight container, separated by pieces of nonstick baking paper.

Very Interesting Maths

This year in maths we have been learning quite a lot of things. But today I'm going to tell you about 3d objects. 

I'm working on how to draw them properly and making them more realistic, (I am not very good at drawing.)  

We are also working on nets and what shapes you can get from different drawings.  

We are also learning how to identify what types of shapes they are, and how to classify them.

Spanish Stuff

At school we've been learning about different languages. I've been studying Spanish, this is a slideshow I've made. You better enjoy.

Hi. This is my slideshow. We did this a while ago so this is kinda old, but whatever.
A long time ago, we were working on making little cartoon things out of google slides. I takes forever and is very frustrating. I have posted this other cartoon thing called Ganster Cats. to make it play, just press the space bar  continuously.

Careers

This year we've been working on careers. We have researched, picked the ones were most interested in, and studied them. I've picked Zoology. Here's a slide show I've made.

(I didn't know what title to give it.)
So yeah. 

Mid Year Report

Reading
I love reading, I find it very interesting and fun. I love reading books. I think that I've improved loads on my pronunciation, and I'm working on reading slower (when i read out loud, i read really fast)

Writing
I love writing! I love all literacy stuff. I'm always trying my best and I think I've achieved loads, like adding descriptive words and good punctuation to my stories. I'm best at writing fictional stories. I'm working on my spelling and vocab. And I've improved with descriptive words.

Maths
Math is one of my lower subjects. Although I've improved quite a bit! And I am pleased with my progress. I have improved on my working out. And I am working on my Geometry and measurement.

Goals For This Year

This year I want to work on my punctuation and word knowledge in literacy,
such as hyperbole and grammar. I also want to work on my geometry in math.

Milo

This year for MILO  I want to get started on my painting with Mosi and Jaime.
First we'll be painting a tree in silhouette. We also need to finish our disco.
(which we have been “planning” for quite a while.)

Blog

I have put quite a lot of stuff on my blog, (including a blob fish!) and think I’m doing pretty well.
I’ve put something about a oil spill poster, a picture thing, and much more.
I think I need to work on making a more interesting title.

OIL SPILLS

this is my oil spill poster. it took three weeks to make and it tells you what oil spills are and what you can do to help. i think that we did pretty well. we did good with the headings and the colour and i really like how there are pictures. we didn't get to edit our poster because it was a poster and i'd already went over it with pen. but if we did get to do it we need to add more detail and make it a bit neater.

MILO

This year for MILO I’m doing the planning for the year 8 day out and the
year 8 formal. Each week we plan the bake sale for the fundraising.
Next week we hope to have bought the food for the bake sale.

The Woods    

As I opened my eyes, I instantly knew that something was wrong. I leaped out of bed and rushed out the door.
I peeked round Jelani’s bedroom door and a stone of dread dropped in my stomach. Jelani’s bed was empty.

No, no, no! I slumped to the ground in frustration, tired from all the hours of searching.
I had looked in every possible place for my brother and all my hopes were crushed. The only place I hadn’t looked was
the forbidding dark forest that loomed over my cottage. Mustering up my courage I willed my feet to walk to the edge of the forest.

I stood at the edge of the forest, my eyes darting around, looking for danger.

“JELANI!!!!!!” I shouted. In the distance I heard the chilling cry of a wolf. But apart from that, there was no answer.

After debating with myself for a minute, I decided to explore the woods for my brother. I walked back down the path to my house,
and turned it upside down looking for things that might be of use in the woods.

After I had stocked up on gear. I walked back down the path. My heart was hammering. Palms sweaty.

Am I making the right decision? Jelani might not be in the woods. He could be down in the village, but surely he is not that stupid?
He knows not to go down there. What if he is in the woods. I have to at least check. So I did.

Crossing the border into the woods was like stepping into a new world. Bark and leaves lay rotting on the stone cold ground.
Tall intimidating trees stretched up into the sky, leaves blocking out the sun. And a heavy mist seemed to permanently layer the air.

I trudged through the mist, straining to see ahead. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something move and I whipped around.
With a yelp I crashed to the floor. I scrambled away trying to see who my attacker was. But all I saw was a root sticking innocently
out of the ground.
 Heart hammering, I rose in fury at this small thing that had caused me so much fear.

“Argh! This is hopeless!” I shouted into the open. Smashing the root with my fists. But all that did was make my hands hurt.
My anger melted into panic. If I can’t even last a few paces into the woods, how am I going to lasts days, even weeks?

I need to pull myself together. If Jelani is in danger, I need to get to him as fast as I can. I can do this. With new determination
blossoming inside of me, I picked myself up and continued on my way into the woods.
